This group is responsible for strategic planning and for accomplishing short-term and long-term objectives for the company overall. HR is comprised of several facets of which the Human Resources Director administers.  In other words, the Human Resources Director manages and leads the entire scope of Human Resources by means of the HR staff. The Human Resources manager oversees the following:

  • Employee training programs
  • Performance appraisals
  • Employee and labor relations
  • Implementation of policies and procedures

  • HR staff members

The ideal candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to manage employees. Usually, this individual has successfully worked in all functions of HR and thus, qualifies for the HR director position.  Applicant must have a minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in senior management roles and organizational development. Furthermore, he/she should have excellent problem solving skills, time management skills, communication skills, and facilitation skills.

Educational Requirements

Candidate must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in management, business administration, communications, or other business related disciple.  However, most organizations require that you have a Master’s degree in Human Resources Management and Development or an MBA along with PHR and/or SPHR certification.

Salary mostly depends upon, location and the size of the organization. According to Indeed.com, the current average salary for a Human Resource Director in the United States is $105,000.
