Once the process is complete he is then viewed as a professional. To maintain the Automotive Service Excellence certification a mechanic has to be tested every five years. State education requirements vary but occupational opportunities may increase with vocational training. California, Michigan and Hawaii or among several of the states that require auto mechanics to receiver a state license.
